Dear Taxpayer :
Our records show that you or your spouse also served in a combat zone, qualified contingency operation, or hazardous duty station during OIF/OEF 2008 - 2010. We have no record of receiving information about this period or periods.
Please provide the following information:
Name of combat zone or other are: _________________________
Date of entry: __________________ Date of exit : __________________
Date of entry: __________________ Date of exit : __________________
Send us your supporting documentation for the combat deferment reported on your return within 45 days. If the documentation doesn't support your position or isn't received, the deferment will not be granted.
If you are a member of the military :
- Please include a copy of your military orders showing your deployment dates for the combat zone or contingency operation.
If you are a civilian working for an employer contracted to the federal government :
- Please include a copy of your letter of Authorization.
If you don't have an authorization letter or military orders :
- Please send us a written statement from your employer or the organization for which you worked. The statement should include the dates you worked in the designated combat zone area or the hazardous duty station. Do the same for contingency operations.
Please return this letter to us with the requested information by June 12, 2012, or we'll remove the combat deferment from you tax account. As a result, you may be subject to collection activity for any returns, taxes, penalties and interest you owe.
Soooooooooo.... apparently when you get deployed to a combat zone the IRS says bullshit and tries to take your money... 2 years later
