While y'all have been butt plugging crawlin, I've been too lazy to take my steering wheel off of my desk to play shooters. So instead I've been fiddling with this.
How it started
Then I stole the lift kit, and 12 bolt rear axle out of my "donor" truck.
Cleaned up and disassembled
halfway there
ended up destroying the splines on the drive shaft slip yoke with the first test drive, but have already replaced the part and she now looks mostly like this.
4.56 gears, brakes, and bearings soon.
Fuck you Waysa, and the tofu turkey you rode in on.

Nice guys. Wheatie, who did you get to do that build for you?
Offline
Pretty sure the Swampbilly did it himself.... with his sister's help!

Don't you mean his girlfriend? You know how them southern folk are.

Wheatie just handed her the tools when she told him to and fetched her beers.

I will try to post pics of my new jeep, well new to me. 6.5 inches of lift,9 inch ford rear end,5:13 gears with Detroit locker,Wildwood disc brake conversion on the rear
Hell yeah, I'd love to see that jeep. Even if 6.5" lift is a bit much for a jeep. I was wanting to do a ford 9" swap too, for the strength and ground clearance. It's just a little pricey though, especially since I can go to the junkyard and get a 14bolt FF for $300. Still, I'd like to keep it 6 lug.

Just me, too cheap to pay a shop to do it. Still haven't gotten around to re-gearing the 12 bolt. Once I make up some setup bearings I can get it done, along with the brakes/seals/axle bearings.
The "free" lift springs I pulled off of my donor truck are way too stiff, even after pulling 2 leaves, and they sit too high. So I bought some 4" Tuff Country EZ ride springs, I also got some jeep boomerang shackles that are 3/8" with 1/2" bolt holes, but the rear spring eye bushing uses a 7/16" bolt. So I'm waiting for some new bushings to come in that will fit, hopefully.
I did finally get my bad ass Art Carr shifter installed though, and I fucking love this thing.

Nice TJ! Not as tall as I thought it would be. Are those 35s or 37s? I'm thinkin about getting 37x13 15 boggers for mine. Ever been to Hardrock offroad park in Ocala? I'd love to go there after I re-gear and lockup my axles, a long with about a million other things I need to do.
My new bushings came in saturday, lovin these tuff country springs and boomerang shackles.

There 35's but there 16 wide which is probably a bit much,i was thinking of going to 12.50x35.And Ive raced motorcycles and mountain bikes at Hardrock years ago but I haven't had my jeep there yet,its only about an hour from my house.I think my jeep club may be planning a trip soon.
I like the looks of the shackles,Rough Country makes good stuff.Do you know anything about Pro-comp MX6 shocks.I was playing with the adjustments this weekend,im thinking it changes compression damping but im not sure.

I've never ran MX6s, or any pro comp shocks before, but since it's a monotube shock with no bypasses, I'd assume that both rebound and compression would be affected with any kind of quick external adjuster. I don't know how it would be affected as far as, would maybe increasing compression decrease rebound, and vice versa. Or if they are both increased/decreased in unison. If you get the chance I'd recommend some Bilstein 7100s with or without reservoirs. Bilstein has a chart to give you an idea of what kind of valving you would need, and if you don't like the valving you get, you can change out the valving stacks yourself, or send it off to have it done. The price isn't too bad either compared to the higher end shocks. Or you can just say fuck it and get the super fancy adjustable bypass shocks, as long as there aren't any clearance issues.

That is a pretty sweet Jeep...for a Jeep. I am biased against Jeeps because I don't fit in them.
Nice work Wheatie. That's all the stuff that I wanted to do to my Bronco but didn't have the funds for.

I got some 6" rough country lift springs if you want them. I don't know if they'll fit a Bronco, but the front eye bushing is a 9/16" bolt, and the rear eye is a 7/16" bolt. I can't remember the length, either 47" or 49". Whichever is the standard length for k5s/GM trucks-pre 88.

Sorry ive been working so much OT haven't had the energy to look online. Most of my suspension tuning was years of dirt bike racing and some mountain bikes, usually you could control both compression and rebound dampining separately. I will say screwing with the adjusters did make a big difference in the ride. And thx Dog,i wasn't really heavy into Jeeps when this one was too good to turn down.I was looking hard at Ford Raptors and my last hardcore 4x4 was a 74 bronco
