This is PURE BS!   lol ok it can max out cod mw3 which is 5yr old game engine  but crysis 2 u would be lucky to just run med settigns with no high res texture pack.
gts250 is rebranded 9800+

That system is NOT worth 600$.....400$ at best, if you want  can get u pieces for 600$ that wil blow that pc out of the water!

True, I built an i7 system for about 600 bucks, granted, I had case, ps and memory, but still.

Re: Gimme your opinion

Case:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=1842

PS
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=1483

MOBO
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … VIEWS#tabs

Processor(s)
Givng you an i7 (preferred) and an i5 (budget)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=6991
This is the "locked" version of the 2600, it;s 30 bucks cheaper then the unlck, whcih you will likely never need/use anyway

i5, slower, but still, a very mighty processor, I think XP just got one.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=4731
Oh yeah, you'll need a heatsink, I have the dual fan verion of this on my i7 and if I had to again, I'd just buy the single fan here,
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=4314

Memory
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=4534
(got you memory with no fins on it, with the i series procs, the fins usually get in the way of the CPU Heatsinks)

Video Card
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications … CatId=3669

With the i5, this rig under 700 (plus shipping)

You may be better off shopping around.

Also, you will need a Hard drive, and an OS, but I assume you will re-use, if not, add on 200 bucks.

Just for clarity, I'd recommend you go Asus for mobo, Intel for Proc, and EVGA-Nvidia for GFX.
The 40-50 bucks extra is worth it.

Re: Gimme your opinion

Yeah, I did get an i5, but I got the 2500k model.  IMO, the i5 is just as good for gaming as the i7, since no games to my knowledge will take advantage of the hyper threading or w/e it has... btw, i've got this clocked to 4.5ghz rogue wink

Also, I've read that the new bulldozer's don't really beat the 2500k/2600k, and in certain instances, are much worse

I'm an EVGA fanboy, so i'm gonna go with them, but for the average gamer, I can't go wrong with recommending ASUS to them.  I love my corsair PSU's.  I've got 8gb of mushkin ram BNIB.  paid $100 for them.  Depending on what the resolution you want to run in game and what level of detail you want the games to have, I'm with waysa on the gtx560.  you can also look at a corsair hx cooler instead of air for the processor, esp if you wanna get good clocks with low temps and not pay the $$$ for a full fledged water cooling system...

I avoid AMD/ATI like the plague

CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819115072 - $224.99
PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817139005 - 109.99
MOBO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131770 - $149.99
GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814130661 - $199.99
MEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820231314 - $44.99

Just remember this... you get what you pay for wink

Re: Gimme your opinion

A GTX560 (non TI version) is about 20% slower then the GTX560 TI version and a ati 6850 is about equal to gtx560 ti, so why spend 50$ more on gtx560 with 20% less performance? NUTS!
besides the gtx560 looks like rebrand of gtx460.

As for intel  the 2500K is best for gaming as no games use HT so 2600K wont give 1 fps more then 2500k, and if this is for playin bf3 well most cpu's scale about the same.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bat … 63-13.html
http://www.guru3d.com/article/battlefie … ark-test/3

For price to performance amd/ati beats intel/nvidia

Depending on what the resolution you want to run in game and what level of detail you want the games to have, I'm with waysa on the gtx560 (your both wrong)

Either the gtx560 or gtx560 TI or ati 6850 all suffer the same thing in bf3, at 1920x1080 they run out of ram at 1gb, this is the only limiting factor on game settings and resolution, only way to solve it is buy video card with more then 1gb vram.
I run 1920x1080 all ultra settings with NO aa as my vram usage is at 1012mb using a pair of gtx560 ti's. Even the gtx580 1.5gb vram card is not enough to run full graphics with 4x AA as it uses over 1600mb vram.

I'm not an ati/amd or intel/nvidia fanboy but if you want a system that will perform well in games and not break the bank you dont need i5 or i7, ask King or Caldwell or any others who are running amd/ati now.

It would appear the 6850 is about par with the 560 (non Ti)

I guess it will come down to brand preferance, and for my money, it's NVidia, not ATI.

My statement is 100% correct.  By your assertion, the ti is 20% faster than the 560, so, in the link I provided, the 6850 got stomped by a margin of about 20%, hence on par with the 560.
